The IC697MDL653 is a Positive / Negative Logic Input Module with 32
points. This 24 VDC module is manufactured by GE for the 90-70
Series. Its 32 input points are arranged in four isolated sets comprised

an additional rack cooling system with two fans per assembly. The
rack fan is easily installed as an accessory with the five slot and
PACSystems RX7i nine-slot racks. The IC697ACC621 is ideal for
systems where heat build-up is a potential problem. The system
offers a low noise level and uses ball bearings for an extended
life span. The manufacturer does recommend that the fans be wired
to the same power source as the PLC as this will ensure the fans
run each time the PLC is actively in use.To wire the fans, use the
parallel cable assembly supplied with the fan, which is located on
the back of the fan assembly. The IC697ACC621 fan tray is
compatible with the IC697CHS750, IC698CHS009, and IC697CHS109
racks. When mounted on the rack, the unit is located on the bottom
to allow the air to flow from the bottom to the top of the rack for
cooling. Easy installation is completed with only a #2 Phillips
head screwdriver. A minimum of 9 inches of space is needed between
racks to remove each individual fan and can be accomplished by
removing the three screws from the front lower panel of the rack.
Simply position the fan assembly on the bottom rack, and slide the
flange on the rear of the assembly. Align the holes, reinstall, and
tighten the screws. Each fan has a replaceable polyurethane filter
that can be cleaned between replacements if needed.

Additional features of the IC697MDL653 include Positive/Negative
Logic and proximity switch compatibility, a selectable input
filter, and a single input configured as an interrupt. These
features are common in all IC697 PLCs. The features may, however,
not be applicable when IC697MDL653 is coupled with other types of
PLCs. The IC697MDL653 module also comes equipped with LED
indicators on its faceplate to alert the user to the module’s
status. These LEDs indicate the on/off status of each point on the
PLC side of the circuit.

Conveniently, the module’s input/output references can easily be
configured by the user without the use of jumpers or DIP switches.
The IC697MDL653 is designed to have both positive and negative logic
characteristics; thus it is able to source current from the input
device to the common user. The applicable input device is connected
to the power bus and the module input. The following input devices
are all compatible with the IC697MDL653: pushbuttons, limit
switches, selector switches, and electronic proximity switches
including 2-wire and 3-wire types.

Ideally, inputs on this module are driven by any IC697 PLC voltage
compatible output module. The input circuit provides enough current
to ensure that the device functions reliably. The input current is
typically 10mA in the ON state and can accept 2 mA leakage current
in the OFF state without turning on.
